Do you want to try something different than an ordinary upper secondary education? Are you interested in studying in English? Do you wish to study amongst students from a variety of different countries? Are you considering to go abroad after obtaining your high school diploma? These are only a few possibilities that the IB programme has to offer for you!

 Besides Finnish students the school has students from different European countries, and also overseas students, which gives an international environment to the education!

 Studying in the IB is challenging but also rewarding. Courses in the pre IB year are closely related to the Finnish programme, but courses are taught in English. The 2 proper IB years consist of the study of 6 subjects. Although the amount of subjects is less than in ordinary upper secondary education, the subjects are studied in a more extensive and profounder way. Besides academic advantages, IB also helps to develop your social skills. The groups are small; students spend a lot of time together which makes it easy to get to know each other quickly. The main language used is English.
For students who like to be active and outdoors, the Vuokatti area offers many excellent sport facilities, indoors and outdoors. This makes it possible for many sport students to combine their training sessions with their studies.

 The school consists of a professional and helpful staff. Since 2005, the Upper Secondary school of Sotkamo has been working in cooperation with the Oulun Lyseo Upper Secondary School.
Besides own teachers, the students also learn via distance teaching from Oulu. 

 Although all teachers are ready to help students with doubts or questions they might have, the school also has a school nurse, a social worker and a foreign student coordinator.
